Salmestone Primary School selected for breakfast club pilot scheme

»Æ¹ÏÊÓƵ's Salmestone Primary School is delighted to announce that they have been selected to participate in the government's pilot scheme for free breakfast club places for all primary school aged pupils.

This early adopter phase is designed to inform the government’s national roll out, schools were chosen from across England to ensure the scheme tests and learns from a variety of locations. The school has been selected as one of 11 schools across Kent and the only school based in Thanet.

The free breakfast club provision is due to start in April, giving staff time to look at processes and understand how places can be delivered in a way that builds on what is already happening at the Margate primary school, ensuring this meets the needs of existing families as well as those joining the school from September this year.

Headteacher Thomas Platten is excited to be part of the scheme. He said:

‘We are looking forward to using this government funding to support families and ensure our pupils are given the best start to their day. Breakfast club fosters a greater sense of community amongst our pupils, promoting better school engagement throughout the day and we are delighted to be able to bring these benefits to a wider audience.’

Local parents will hear in April about their child's reception place for September 2025. If you'd like to visit us at Salmestone before then, please visit to arrange a tour.
